As we approach the end of this year 鈥� one that has challenged many of us to adapt to the realities of 鈥渓iving at work,鈥� I have been reflecting on our work at 金禾娱乐城 and the strength that comes from never losing sight of people 鈥� specifically the patients we serve and the people we work with who drive our mission forward.

The global trials of 2020 came as 金禾娱乐城 was embarking on new challenges of its own 鈥� evolving our quest to answer the needs of the many unheard voices in the rare disease space. And for me, all of this came with more personal changes as I transitioned into a new function at the company in market access.

When I started at 金禾娱乐城 four years ago, I was struck by how tangible the drive to achieve success is for the patients we serve across the organization. Just as remarkable is how much 金禾娱乐城 supports individual employees in their career pursuits. I find purpose in working for a company that supports employees鈥� ambitions and passions, while keeping patients鈥� needs at the forefront. I鈥檝e experienced this first-hand with my own move from policy into market access, combined with a two-year assignment in the 金禾娱乐城 Strategic Plan team. 金禾娱乐城 has supported my own ambitions to explore new roles outside of my areas of expertise because they know that encouraging people to pursue their passions at work makes for a stronger company.

In a year where each of us has rediscovered the need to adapt, to take stock of our health and wellness and support each other, working directly with rare disease communities is a reminder that these patients have lived with health concerns for far longer as they manage their unique and varied needs. According to the NIH, there are 7,000 known rare diseases and only 5% of them have treatment options. While each individual patient community in a rare disease might be smaller, the need for safe and effective treatments is immense, and we are driven to help fill in those gaps. 金禾娱乐城 has the potential to make a tangible difference.

金禾娱乐城 is determined to take its commitment to patients a step further through its sustainability initiative, pioneered last year, which promotes health equity, ensuring that every patient that needs a 金禾娱乐城 medicine, has access to it in a viable, sustainable way. As we move our rare disease work forward, I have been heartened to see so many of my colleagues rise to 鈥� and exceed 鈥� the challenges of this moment.

Even as we are physically apart, I鈥檓 so grateful to be in a supportive environment and surrounded by passionate teammates, who value patient-centric innovation and who are committed to providing solutions that optimize the care pathway for patients. With 2020 nearly in the rear view, I can say with certainty, that it is our commitment to putting people first that has enabled us to not only weather the uncertainties of this year, but has helped us thrive, grow and come out stronger.

金禾娱乐城 and Stanford Medicine have established a multi-year collaboration to enhance patient value for people living with severe diseases. In line with 金禾娱乐城鈥檚 digital business transformation, the goal of the collaboration is to jointly develop unique solutions that combine clinical, digital, omics, and other data sets 鈥� along with the required expertise 鈥� to identify which patients will respond best and ultimately, deliver better patient outcomes.

鈥淭hrough this collaboration with Stanford Medicine, we hope to enable new solutions for people living with severe diseases by solving problems that wouldn鈥檛 be possible on our own,鈥� said Emmanuel Caeymaex, Executive Vice President, Immunology Solutions & Head of U.S. 金禾娱乐城. 鈥溄鸷逃槔殖� is committed to creating sustainable value for patients by unleashing the full power of our combined clinical and digital data and scientific innovation.鈥�

In addition to joint research projects, the collaboration includes workshops and the potential for exchange programs to bring the capabilities, skills, and talent of 金禾娱乐城 and Stanford together.

"The strategic application of AI and data science presents an opportunity to improve drug development and timely dosing, and uncover new applications for existing therapeutics,鈥� said Lloyd Minor, MD, Dean of the Stanford School of Medicine. 鈥淚n this way, our collaboration with 金禾娱乐城 advances Stanford Medicine鈥檚 vision of Precision Health鈥攁 future where we will not only treat disease, but use new technologies to predict, prevent, and cure it precisely."

The first project will focus on Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS), also known as acne inversa, an immunological skin disease that results in debilitating quality of life for people living with the disease. The treatment journey is often long and complex with delays, misdiagnoses, and ineffective treatment. The global prevalence of HS varies in populations around the world with reports citing up to 1% are affected.

金禾娱乐城 and Stanford Medicine plan to explore digital phenotyping, computational discovery of pathogenic mechanisms, and the disease burden and societal experience for people living with severe diseases like HS. Projects will begin in early 2021 with future projects focusing on immunology, neurology, and other emerging areas of interest.
